If there’s one thing I have immensely struggled with is the promise of God’s provision.
I know it in my mind but my heart is doubtful around His promise of supplying for my needs.
I always seem to be trying to take care of myself and not truly resting in what God has already supplied.
I tend to believe I struggle with this in my faith because of my early life and the mindsets I have formulated as I’ve gone through life.
I rest when I know I have control over different aspects of my life. For example, the ability to provide for me.
But when it comes to trusting God to grant me what I desire and need, I can assure you is a problem for me.
Guilt always accompanies me whenever I realize that I am leaning more on myself than on God and sometimes I just wonder, how do I do it? How do I learn to completely trust in God’s ability and willingness to provide?
I am not there yet but as I reread these verses in Matthew 6:19-34, I felt God whispering to me through the verses.
This portion of scripture encouraged me and I hope they do the same for you who struggle just like I do in the area of God’s care through provision.
Matthew 6:19-34
1. Lay Up Treasures in Heaven Matt 6:19-21
Where your treasure is, your heart is.

Where’s your treasure? Let me rephrase that, what is your treasure?
God asks you and me to place our treasures in Him. Our highest hopes, dreams for life, and all of those things are to be set on Him.
But as humans, more so as believers we tend to place our treasures outside of God and in systems because it’s the smart thing to do.
However, I learned one thing, if I always go by my intellect, I will always be limited by it. I need to go beyond it because that’s where the faith that makes dreams possible resides.
Let God become your top investment, not only financially but in other aspects of life too.
2. Work On Your Mind Matt 6:22-23
Jesus refers to a person’s perspective in these verses.
Your perspective comes from your mind. If your perspective is off, it means your mind is off.
If your mind is off, so is your life. Why? Because your life moves in the direction of your strongest thoughts.
To have a great life, work on your mind.
In light of that, what mindset keeps you from trusting in God for your provision or realization of dreams?
3. Choose to Put God First Matt 6:24
Jesus knew the power that money would have on people.
Jesus doesn’t in any way underestimate the power that money wields over a person’s soul.
The problem with money is that when it is given the role of a master, it does more harm than good.
We often think and even believe that money makes us happy and so we pursue it only to our loss.
Money is good and we all could use some extra amount of cash; however, we need to know who is in control, is it the money or is it God?
The cure to this is to put God first.
Choose to put God first above your highest ambitions and the things you pursue will fall in place as He has promised in His word.
4. Do Not Worry Matt 6:25-34
These verses actually bring me to the point of this blog; God’s Supernatural Supply.
So what is God’s supernatural supply?
First and foremost, let’s look at what it’s not.

· It involves no worry
As a prerequisite to God’s supply, worrying can’t be a part of it.
This leads me to an important discovery I made, which is when it comes to God’s provision, you don’t earn it, you receive it.
This definitely hit hard because it squarely addressed my self-reliant and performance-oriented nature.
Sometimes what stands in the way of receiving from God is trying to do it for yourself.
Most of the time, this way of acting is because of what we truly believe about God.
Which leads me to the 2nd key to God’s supernatural supply:
· Knowing God’s heart as a Father.
God at heart is a Father. You don’t need to look very far for creation itself attests to this. He takes care of what He created.
As a Father, according to Vs. 30, God is even extravagant!
It takes a paradigm shift in one’s mind to see God as He presents Himself in scripture and not as we think!

It takes a paradigm shift in one’s mind to see God as He presents Himself in scripture and not as we think!
This means moving from your own understanding to believing in what God has said.
It literally means that we put aside our thoughts of who God is and go with what He has said about Himself in His written word.
Sometimes, we shouldn’t apply our reasoning to God’s word because God is beyond our finite minds.
Believe that God can and will supply for your needs and you don’t always have to know how.
Something that gave me relief as I meditated on these verses is that God is not relying on my means, plans, vision, or goals to come through for me. All He wants is my obedience and trust.
Sometimes I think that when I have a plan that is when God will bless me because God can’t bless empty hands but from what I read in scripture, Jesus depicts God as a Father who gives freely and wholeheartedly.
No pre-qualifications whatsoever!
That is mind staggering!
The 3rd key to God’s supernatural supply is:
· He is well-acquainted with your needs.
God knows it all. What more can I say? He knows!
The main key to God’s supernatural supply is in Vs. 33:
· Seek God First and His Business.
The things you need will come. That’s a promise. But keep God where He rightfully belongs- first place.
Finally, and yet again, do not worry. Don’t worry about tomorrow because God has a handle on it.
This tells me to live in the present. Trying to figure it out is controlling what isn’t yours to control.
Worrying only adds to anxiety.
Choosing to Live in Obedience
One of the key lessons I have been learning is to do with obedience and on that note, radical obedience.
All that God requires is my obedience and your obedience. Yet it’s one of the hardest things I have had to learn!
In this case, it is living in obedience to what He has said about supplying for my needs.
My part is to obey. Since He said He will provide, I am simply to take that to heart and rest because when I do so, God works.
